Popular Bookfest 2012

Jyun managed to persuade me to go to the bookfest with him..
I didn't want to go in case I bought heaps of books impulsively..
It's a good day to head over to KL since the roads are clear..
And the fair isn't that packed with people:)

All these books for only RM142.80
Yes, I am a happy happy girl :)

Although I must say that last year's bookfest is better since it has better books,
Or maybe I've bought most of the good books..
I went to a few sections and can't find any books that I've not read..
And the profile sections are a bit disappointing too..
I can't find one particular book that I want..
But I did managed to get myself Alice Walker's book and another Torey Hayden's book which I have not read yet:)
Anyway the pile of books above are my stock of light read books since I've ran out of books to read..

Lunch at Levain

Jyun took a few selection of bread..
And I settled for creamy mushroom spaghetti and chicken donut
 It was good!
There's a hint of lemon taste and it's not too creamy either..
Just right for my taste buds..
But the donuts tasted a little "off" today..
The previous time when I had my meals there, the donut tasted better
On our way home, we saw the advertisement by BN..
Yeah, they look desperate.
And that's not the only advertisement,
There were more along our way back..
*facepalm*

One of those Sundays

One of those wonderful Sunday we spent together..
Involves us, coffee, good conversation, and good food:)

My usual mocha latte, and Jyun's hot white chocolate drink
 The weather was INCREDIBLE!
It was gloomy, windy, and absolutely not sunny..
It was a good day to sit and have a cup of coffee with your good companion:)
And of course,
We went to the bookstores to check out the books..
Had Japanese food for dinner at Sushi Zanmai..
This rainbow rolls is mad yummy!
I forgotten what is in it besides the mozzarella cheese :P
Dumplings and spider rolls..
Dumplings weren't as good as the ones we had in some other Japanese place
 (can't remember the restaurant name)
Spider rolls is just so so..
Jyun's beef udon noodles..
And my god knows what sushi is that..
But I like that sushi..
LOL

Us :)

Internship begins tomorrow!
Not sure whether to feel more excited or nervous..

Between the Lines

Remember I just recently blogged about the book from Jodi Picoult and her daughter, Samantha?
Well I just finished reading the book.
It was so exciting that I can't put the book down, so I finished half of the book tonight.
I know I am supposed to be sleeping by now since I have a brunch date later,
Then again, the characters in the book seem so real to me that I don't wanna put it down.
After all the green tea that I just drank isn't a big help to me when comes to sleeping,
Cause I can't sleep.
Duh..
:)

Anyway..
It's a rather good book for young adults..
Perhaps for someone who are way younger than me..
Then again,
I think it's great for people my age too..
(Heck, people my age, children, and some middle age adults read crap like Twilight could possibly enjoy the book too)
But I don't want to compare Twilight with Picoult's book..
Cause Twilight plot is just..

Crappy.

I think Picoult's daughter, Samantha managed to capture the thoughts and bring the thoughts alive of most avid readers..
Who sometimes wondered how is it like to be a character in a book..
And wanting the character in the book to be real
The book is a "fairy tale" like story with great illustrations..

I am still trying to take in the ending of the book.
And reminding myself that it's a young adult fiction..
After all I'm so used to reading real life issues that it makes something fun a little hard to take in after I finish reading the ending..

I am not going to spoil the story for people who wanted to read the book.
So I shall leave this blog post hanging..

I think it'll make a great cartoon..
I can almost imagine Pixar turning the story into a movie:)

World Book Day

Today is World Book Day
And  yesterday Jyun surprised me with two books that I've been wanting to read..

I wanted to read this book for months!

And Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult!
Her newly released book..
I have no idea how he managed to get his hands on that book when I thought it's only released in the UK.
Maybe it's here already but I just saw Picoult's tweets about her newly released book a few days ago.
I still wonder how he got that book..
Then again, he wants to leave it as a mystery for me since it's supposed to be a surprise :P

Thanks, Jyun!!! *huggies*

It's March already! =)
Yesterday we did something different for a change =D
Sister however got a tummy ache since she ate too many dishes yesterday=D
Right now, I am cramming for my finals..
RAWR!

3 down, 1 more to go

3 down, one final paper left for this semester. Sat for the craziest and lousiest paper on Friday. I feel much lighter after that paper. Heeee. Although I have my other paper to sit for this coming Wednesday, but it feels like I am done with everything.

How was your weekend? Mine was good!=) I am supposed to go for the Bon Odori festival but there was a slight change of plan when we can't find any parking spot. I don't mind really cause the plan to go for the festival was a pretty last minute thing. Instead I went for food hunt with my bestie and my mom=) It was all good. Plus it's not too crowded either.

I got my first taste of dark mocha after 2 weeks of being on a coffee diet. It was a rather looooooong 2 weeks. The taste of dark mocha swirling on my tongue and sliding through my throat is so very heavenly. *sighs with satisfaction* And of course who else besides my best friend is there to satisfy my coffee cravings=)

On a different note, it's funny how I read more during exam season. Well compare to how I used to be like 2 years ago, I usually finish reading at least 3 books a week. 3 books a week isn't that bad considering I used to finish reading at least 5-6 books a week back in my high school days regardless of me having to sit for an exam or not. And it's not text book that I am reading but leisure reading. I hate it when my friends come up to me and ask me questions like "Owh. You must be done with your revision to be able to indulge yourself in other reading materials" or "Why are you reading this?" as if I am not supposed to know other things besides the information found in the text book or my notes=.=

Anyhoo, for the past 2 weeks I managed to finish these:

Including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Yes, I am rereading JK Rowling's books for the god-knows-how-many-times. It's so good. And I have my best friend to discuss the best bits with me to take my mind off other mundane boring stuff=) Rice Mother by Rani Manicka is another good read. Can hardly put down the book once I started reading it and she's a local author. She changed my perception towards local authors, somehow. Or not. Maybe I am a bit bias towards the way she writes. On the other hand, John Grisham's book isn't that good. Rather disappointing. The story ended rather abruptly. I actually went wth at the end of the book=.=

I can't wait to watch Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2. In a couple of days I'll be watching it. OMGIamsoexcitedIcandie.

Restless-ness

I will be sitting for my first paper on Monday. There there, don't you start telling me stuff like, "I am sure you've prepared yourself well for the paper" just to get replies for me like "Oh no..I am still preparing for it." Cause frankly I have no interest in reply any of those comments so keep them to yourself, thankyouverymuch.

In my previous post, I've mentioned about my study break and having a good break from uni before my paper on Monday. But now that I got the luxury of sleeping in and taking my time the next day to think of what to do next, I sort of got restless. I am beginning to think that restless is an understatement since there are still a lot of restrictions but there isn't really any restrictions. Now I don't think I make any sense there. Blargh.!

It's 4am in the morning or slightly after 4am, and I am still awake. Why? Cause I can't sleep of course! Despite of my having an exam on Monday, but I can't feel the exams vibe, YET. Although I am not sure why. I am sick of going through the same thing over and over again just to make sure that I have them embedded in my memory. It feels like I am done with my finals since I've been spending the past two days watching Gossip Girls series (credits to Jyun dearest for helping me to download them). And I even managed to finish reading two books (Harry Potter 4th book, I am rereading the series and thanks to Jyun dearest for loaning me the series and a novel by John Grisham which made me cringe at the thought of the abrupt ending). I am currently reading a new book by a local author, Rani Manicka and once I start reading it, I almost cannot put down the book. Again, thanks to Jyun dearest for getting me that book when I didn't expect it=)

For now I am looking forward to David's concert. I am gonna watch him perform live THIS MONTH! Oh goshhhhh!! So looking forward to it! I am about 3 weeks away from watching him performing live on stage!*grins*

As for my coffee diet, it's going on well. I think the last time I had coffee was during the presentation that I did with my group mates to convince others about the benefits of coffee. Although I must say I really miss my coffee.

I have about 2 weeks left before I break my coffee diet.
I really should start reading now or I won't sleep.
Yawnnnnnn..

I am back!

Hola!!!
I am back!

I've been super busy lately. Caught up with uni work. I hardly can find time to update my blog. Yes I am that swamped with work. So much so whenever I sat down and try to type a post for my site all I can think of is my work. And I know I wouldn't be able to come out with something interesting if I keep going on and on about my research.

For the past few weeks, I've handed in 2 assignments (or was it 3?). Conducted an experiment to test on brain hemisphere. Got home from campus at around 11.30pm just because my group mates and I havta work on our assignment since it's due the next day. Went for dinner with some of the bird gang. Got caught up in some group conflict, solved it, and moved on. Knew that I can't really rely on some people although they are meant to be treated like an adult. Skip a lot of meals just to work on my tasks, lost 1kg in one week, walked a lot (like A LOT!), met an accident for the first time, got freaked out multiple of times, and knew that I am not built to do last minute work (pictures below will explain everything).

The accident:

- I met an accident when I was on my way back from campus. A taxi driver, for some reason, didn't see the signal that I flashed ages before I switched lane, speed up suddenly and kissed my car's butt. Went to the police station for the first time to lodge a report although I know there's nothing that the police can do and also realized how sucky the police here are. Not only they are rude, but they are not exactly helpful at all. God knows why my parents dragged me to the station that Monday when I already feel super exhausted after one long day at campus. Damn you taxi driver. Since that accident I am wary of all taxi drivers on the road. They don't know how to use the signal apparently. Most of them will appear from no where. But I got home safe. Phew.=)

Group conflicts:

- As usual when you work in a group, you'll have a few of them who play their part as a social loafer. Not that I can force them to do much when the stuff that they do, they don't bother checking before submitting it to you cause they usually assume that the group leader will check everything for them and pick up their shit if their work isn't good enough. I am thinking if they want to flung this semester please don't pull me with them. Hence, I'll havta polish their work for them just so my grades wouldn't be affected. At least I have Kai Li and Chee Boon. Kai Li is super efficient when comes to getting things done and it's so much better to have someone like her to brain storm with. Chee Boon on the other hand, played his part to solve all the technical problems in the group.

At least I am not a last minute person. If I didn't insist that the rest of the group members to hand in their research findings a week before the dateline, the day before the dateline I'll be bawling instead of reorganizing all the research findings.

Most of us were busy working on a particular assignment. Even on the day of the dateline, we were still working on it. Polishing and reorganizing our work.

Pictures below explains everything:

We went to get our Frappucino from Starbucks before we went for dinner. Since we all need to stay awake longer, especially me, hence I need another doze of caffeine in my system.

My Mocha Frappucino.

I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately. Within one week, I drank at least 6-7 cups of coffee. Depending on whether I took a double doze of caffeine from the one I had the first thing in the morning to keep me going.

My classes had been long. Some are pretty draggy, namely Comm Skills class. It's a class where we all don't find it a point since everything that are being taught to use had been taught to us before so it's really redundant. Then again, our attendance is really important for that class. It's like Malaysian Studies. Crappy subject and an utter waste of time. We had to stayed back for that class TWICE a week. Pfft.

I can't go on a coffee diet when I consistently need to keep myself awake with the help of it. It's like a drug. Or a placebo effect. Maybe I don't need caffeine in my system, but if I don't consume it, I can't function properly. Oh no. I sound like someone with a coffee addiction. Darn it.

I also did my experiment. Managed to complete it within 2 days*grins*
The brain pic below that are scattered on the table is our assignment.

Jyun gave me a book=) He managed to get his friend from UK to hunt for the book for it. I can't find it here and I know that the bookstore in the UK should have it. Jyun surprised me with the book by placing it on my lap yesterday *grins*. Thank you so so sooooooo much, Jyun=D

Second Year

I am officially a second year Psychology student!

My new semester begins on Monday and predictably, we all got busy by the first day of the week. By the third day of my class, I have 11 assignments in line pending. I have such crazy and long week. So much so, Monday seemed to be so far away from Friday. I like Friday best so far. Not only I only have to go for tutorials, but class ends early which means I have the rest of the day to myself. Only problem is I have to drive all the way to campus for that one hour class=_______=

Thursdays are the worse. Since my tutorial begins at 11am which means I'll have to wait for approximately 5 hours before that since I havta drag myself to campus early due to the scarce space for parking. Sigh.

My longest day of the week are Tuesdays and Wednesdays since classes ends at 5.30pm on Tuesdays and 3.30pm on Wednesdays. And by the time I get myself back home, I'll havta go through the traffic. And usually I'll get back home feeling incredibly exhausted. My classes on Monday are equally long too. As much as I am trying to avoid the word exhaustion, but I can't help it since I've been rather sleep deprived for the past 3 days, or was it 4. Somehow when I sleep I tend to still think of things. And that makes me feel like I hardly slept at all.

But don't get me wrong there. I am coping fine. Only thing is I have a lot to organize and prioritize. Even my conversation with Jyun seemed to revolve a lot about work these days or we might just be sitting next to each other not talking much since we were both working on our tasks.

Hence, year two semester one begins. It's gonna be a rather long journey I reckon.

It has been a rather eventful week I think. We celebrated, Runa', Yvonne's and Clarissa's 21st birthday on Monday at TGIF and there'll be another gathering at Runa's place tomorrow. A couple of group discussion or a few of them. And we did a few assessments during our tutorial and being taught how to use some tools (yeah pretty "eventful" indeed). Yawn. I am already yawning as I typed this out despite of the 4 hours nap I had this noon (super satisfying nap).

Jyun gave me this awesome book, The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas. I've been eyeing on that book for ages already and he bought that for me recently! *grins* That dude sure know how to surprise me=) It's a good read. Although I am only half way through the book, but I am savoring every bit of the story line.

Also, Jodi Picoult has a new book. This book is her support for gay rights and it's a must read book my list.

Despite the fact that I only have the time before bedtime to do my leisure reading or sometimes in the morning before I go for my lecture classes but that will not stop me from my leisure reading moments. Right now I am craving for more leisure reading hours but sighhhh..oh well..I shall stop ranting now.

The number five!

I am back bitches!

Ho yeahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! I am finally back from my camp!=)

The keeper couldn't make it there since he's down with the pox. I feel bad for him=s How's Christmas for you guys? Mine was alright. Wasn't much of a celebration since I wasn't celebrating with my favourite people (initial plan was to celebrate with the keeper at camp but you can't stop certain things from taking place). Though I did met unique people at camp. Gosh those campers were a hilarious bunch. Amoysing (inner joke).

Will update more about the camp later perhaps. So exhausted.

Anyway, although the keeper can't make it to the camp, he did dropped by to give me my Christmas gift=)

So now, I am the proud owner of the book by David Archuleta :

Ho yeahhhhhhh!!*wide grin* I wanted that book for AGES but it's so costly so I can't afford to buy it. But the keeper got it for me!=D Another surprise from him once again^^ He never fails to amuse me=)

I haven't started reading that book yet. Wrapped it nicely and am practically hugging it whenever I pick it up and look at it. Oh em gee!! David!!! It's his birthday yesterday and I actually forgotten about it till I checked Twitter. Forgotten about his birthday due to the mayhem of the camp and stuff.

Anyhow, it's so good to be back!:) Back to my bed and home and my family^^

FREE FOR NOW!

Can you smell it??? Can you can you??????????
That's a rhetorical question btw.=p

I AM FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least for now.

Hosh my gawd! I had that pack of butterflies in my stomach before my last paper since it's Organizational Psych paper and that's like the most to read and remember. Anyhow, the paper was alright though. Wasn't too bad. Though I didn't bother reading a chapter and damnit! The paper questioned me on that!!! "They are not supposed to ask us that sort of question!!!" said Umaimah. The essay part was, amazing though. I remember every single thing that I read and it got tested and well, I sorta copied and pasted what I've stored in mind and the sequence of what I've read I can remember them clearly. I didn't even need to think much when I wrote the essay, and I got bored writing pages of it=___=

When I went to the toilet for the second time my lecturer asked me about it and I told her I got bored. HAHA!X) It was an amazing feeling when I am done with the paper!=)

The gang and I went to Pyramid for lunch. Since the others wanna got for karaoke session and I have no interest in that (I don't like karaoke), Jyun and I watched Tangled!!!!=)))))

Wanted to watch Harry Potter but the timing isn't right. Stupid cinema don't have good timings for movies on Fridays. Buggers. But Tangled is an awesome movie though!!! It's way better than The Princess and The Frog hands down!

I don't mind watching it again though. There's this sunflower thingy there!! And I love sunflowers a lot!!!!!!=D

Next movie to watch, Social Network and Harry Potter!

Bought myself my first book written by Stephen King. Bestie recommended it=)

My dearest gave that book to me as a surprise gift!!=) Can't stop smiling looking at the book. I wanted that book for like months!!!!!=DDDDD Thank you so very much. I know thank you itself can't express how happy I was and am when I received that gift from you!!!^^

I love the surprises from you=p

Can't wait to spend more time with my lovelies=)

Jodi Picoult

What can I say?
I watched My Sister's Keeper AGAIN!
andcriedbuckets
This is a movie that I don't think I'll get sick of..
I guess..=X
Aneewaay..
Jodi Picoult is a remarkable author.
I've said it before and I am gonna mention it again.

Dear Jodi Picoult,
If you happen to drop by my site..
Can I have your autograph?
I am a Malaysian and I am pulling our legs when I say that I really really really like your books.

I was raving about being so wide awake and couldn't sleep tonight and stuff..
But now I am yawning away as I type this out.
Had an amazing day today(yesterday to be honest)..
And I'll blog about it later perhaps?

Happy Friday..
Good morning and good night to me.
Owh wait.
I need another dose of Jodi Picoult before I go to bed..
Currently reading Nineteen Minutes for the second time.
Not bad compared to Keeping Faith which I read for ten times already or more.
(I swear I am not exaggerating)

Movies and books

What a dayyyy...
*flashing a broad grin*
I found out from my siblings that they're currently on their break,
Which means, its time for me to make an appointment with my other bestie!
Thank goodness I'll be handing in my assignment next week.

Headed over to the bookstore cause I need to get myself a book..
Plus I got a feeling that the store might have sales.
Well yes, they do have discounts for most of the books there.

Only thing is I've either read the books before, or forgotten if I've read them and some genre I just don't read them for some reason.
At times like that, I wish so bad that I do read fantasy books..
Then it wouldn't be so hard for me to pick a book from the store then.
I ended up buying this book that I really want from Cathy Glass and another novel from Cecelia Ahern since that's the only book from her that I haven't read before(I think)
The novel that I am looking for isn't there, probably it's because it's still very new. And I am got rather disappointed with MPH too since MPH don't those novels too.

I wish JK Rowling will write another bunch of series.
Man! I remember how I used to anticipate the release of her books.
Why can't I try liking Twilight?
I am in desperate need for a good book.
But Twilight series suck big time.
I cringed at the books that are sold in almost every bookstore I stepped in.
It's annoying really.
They have such nice covers for such sucky book..
But I've had always admired the cover of the book though..
A book with a sophisticated looking cover with such shallow context in it..
I think my bro is another anti-Twilight fan..
Since he's against everything with a vampire character in it.

This week I've read..
A book about eating disorders.
Took me quite sometime to read it since I got annoyed with the character of the book,
Besides hating the fact that being fashionably thin is like the only goal for some people..
And that always reminds me of people who tend to put up pictures of them in their site and commented about how fat or ugly they look in that picture cause I very well don't get why on earth do these people bother posting up their pictures if they really think that they are that fat or ugly since the only thing I can think of is these people is that they are just an attention seekers. It's pathetic really.
Plus, I've got rather caught up with my homework during the weekdays.

Note : And shut up about me being so "small" cause I don't think I am that small.

Watched a couple of movies at my uncle's place..
Actually THREE movies..
I can't remember the name of the first movie though..X)

Jackie Chan speaks funny English.
But I can't wait to watch his next movie with Will Smith's son in it..=D

In the Nanny's Diary..
I don't really get what does Stockholm syndrome gotta do with anything in that movie.
I would wanna watch that movie again though..

I am currently reading a rather interesting book by Anne Deveson.
Wished there aren't a lot of distractions around me..
