My Elephant

Recently Jyun and I went to My Elephant for thai food.
It was near Food Foundry which was also a place which I wanted to go to for a while now but I decided to give My Elephant a try first:)
We didn't expect the crowd since it was a weekday
But at the same time I'm not surprised to see the crowd since the place has alot of good reviews,
And it's lunch hour when we reached the place.

Hence the crowd
But at least we don't need to wait too long to get a seat:)

Instead of having tom yam we decided to try something different instead..

 Deep fried chicken.
So crispy till the very last piece of chicken..
 Red Curry with duck..
Since we had Green Curry a few times when we went for thai food..
We tried red curry instead and there's duck meat in it..
Gosh! I love duck meat..
It has lychee in it too and it does balance the taste..
Soothing for the taste buds
Deep fried fish cakes..
Very flavorful..

 Fragrant brown and jasmine rice.

Twenty Five

Twenty Five.
And we still have our inside jokes kept between us since the day we met:)

Artisan Roast Coffee & Internship

Sometime this week,
I was out with the guys not shopping, but just hanging out this time:)
Well initially it was just Jyun and I at Artisan since we told Baezy that we'll meet him for dinner.
But he surprised us at Artisan since his boss said that he can leave work early that day:D

The many facial expression of Baezy

 Our mocha

It has been a week since I last worked as an intern at ECC.
I miss the kids but did I mention that the end year party was a blast?
Yes it was.
We danced, laughed, and sing.
It was also my last day with the children, singing their theme song, and enjoy their presence.
Now I am left with the amazing memories.
Working with special needs children taught me many things.
It builds my character and it also brings out qualities in me which I didn't thought I'd have.
I had so much fun working with the other interns who happens to be my classmates.
Those lovely ladies are amazing.
I learnt so much from them and I could go on and on about how good they are towards the children.

As for the teachers at ECC,
They welcomed us and made us feel like home.
The parents of the children were really amazing too and extremely supportive.
Although the teachers are really young (despite of what they said about our age gap),
But they are very experienced.
I've learned how to be more creative as I work with them,
How to think critically and be more efficient in my work production since working with children with special needs requires us teachers to be a good problem solver.
I am still learning how to deal and manage certain issues and challenges when I work with special needs children and teenagers.

I've seen the children grow to be more attached to us interns,
I've watched how those children learn and help their peers despite of their shortcomings.
Most of all, I've learnt the meaning of unrequited love.

I love my job.
It was a really fulfilling job.
And I'm looking forward to working with populations with special needs in the future.
Thank you teachers and the lovely ladies who made the experience of my internship a very meaningful and fulfilling one.

I should give Amy/Eric the credit for taking such a beautiful photograph of us.

It has been ages since I stayed up at this hour of the day to work on my assignment.
Since I'm done with my internship,
I have to work on my thesis and internship report.
And right now, I am chasing after my deadline again.

A message

"Hi I'm B's mum. I asked B to point out who is his fave teacher. He pointed you. Thank you for the added joy in B's life. Hope to keep in touch via fb. I'm teaching B how to spell and type in fb."

A message from my ex student's mom.
Yes, I do love my students very much.
All of them actually.
Each one of them brings me so much joy in their very own way.

Tamarind Springs Restaurant, Ampang

I went to a very nice place for dinner with Jyun sometime this week.
It was a pleasant surprise cause when I stepped into the entrance door of the place,
My first word was, "Wow"
Why wow?
You'll see why through the pictures below..

So we went to a traditional Indochinese restaurant,
The place was really amazing.
The staffs were very friendly (service was good), food was great too (although we only tried a few dishes since our stomach cannot contain much but it was more than enough for us), and the air smells different.

The place is located at Ampang..
So it was quite a drive there but it's worth it.
That night, it was pouring for the entire day.
And Jyun wanted it to stop raining for some reason..
Anyway, we were away from the city for a bit..

The restaurant smells nice, the atmosphere was very calming, the background music was really soothing, the view was breathtaking, the sound of water splashing and crickets makes the night so very romantic:)

The first thing that we saw was a statue of a smiling buddha when we stepped into the restaurant

Yes, it was a candle light dinner..
And the place wasn't crowded so it's nice..
It almost feels like Jyun booked the whole restaurant just for us..:)

But of course, later in the evening people the place was slowly filled with people..
And since it was a weekday and it was raining the place wouldn't be crowded

 Our snacks..
I like the mango salad thingy as a welcome appetizer..
It was soury and sweet (my two favourite combination)
Our appetizers
It was the first in the menu,
It consisted of fish, shrimps, something something (I cannot remember)
But it was delish!

We had the chicken cashew nut lemongrass dish
 Curry with wild banana..
Didn't know how will curry taste like with wild banana so we ordered that:)
It was rich with coconut, not really spicy, and the portion was more than enough for both of us..
Thank goodness we didn't get more dishes from the menu..
Although initially we were tempted to and knowing our small stomach,
We decided not to go overboard in case we couldn't finish the food..
So we had these with rice..

The main thing about the place is the scenery and the atmosphere.
It has the fragrant smell which reminds you of a very holy place..
You are very close to nature since the restaurant is inside a small jungle..
Plus you would have to walk through a walkway which is surrounded by trees to get to the restaurant

I shall let the photographs below do the talking..

Thanks for the very wonderful evening, Jyun.

He told me that it was a dream of his which lead him to this place.
It feels as if we were in an entire different place,
Away from here but still here somehow..
